Group photo with HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh GVCO at Edinburgh reception

Last Friday (26th April) our Royal Patron, HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO met with DEBRA UK members and supporters at an afternoon reception held at Greyfriars Hall part of the Virgin Hotel in Edinburgh.

The reception, which was hosted by Edinburgh’s 258th Lord Provost, Councillor Robert Aldridge, was an opportunity for HRH to meet both members and supporters of the charity from across Scotland. It was a wonderful day and another great opportunity for members voices to be heard. We are extremely grateful to HRH for travelling up to Scotland and for her continued commitment to support the EB community. We are also very grateful to the team at Greyfriars Hall led by Hotel General Manager, Mafalda Albuquerque, and ably assisted by her labrador Bonnar!

Commenting on the event, DEBRA UK CEO Tony Byrne said:

It was wonderful to see HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh once again engaging with our members and supporters last week in Edinburgh. We know the members who attended really appreciated the opportunity to talk with HRH and to share their experiences of living with EB, and we remain very grateful for everything that HRH does to help raise awareness of EB and support for the work we do. Thanks also to the Lord Provost, to the team at the Virgin Hotel, including Bonnar(!), and to our many members and supporters of the charity who travelled from across Scotland to join us.
